This is a reduced
English version of the webpage of the XII Brazilian Limnological Congress. The
congress is organized every two years and is attended by most Brazilian
limnologists. We expect to receive around 1300 people, including people working
directly on research, on governmental agencies, private companies and students
(undergrad and graduate). The meeting will be done in south Brazil and thus we
should receive some colleagues from Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile.
The meeting will take place in Gramado (south Brazil, 820 m asl, -29.38
lat, -50.87 long), a small city that receives many Brazilian tourists during
winter for the main Brazilian film festival and a ‘cold experience’. The region
is among the coldest in Brazil and temperatures between 0-10oC are
usually recorded in this period. The vegetation in the region is composed by
grasslands and a type of Atlantic Forest that includes Araucaria pine trees.
The meeting program includes oral and poster sessions (around 700),
speeches (8), discussion sessions (12) and short-workshops (9). We should have 4-6
activities on different topics simultaneously.
